Showing a vote of confidence in the revitalization of the Union Square neighborhood, Bang & Olufsen has just opened a San Francisco flagship store at 146 Geary Street — the largest Bang & Olufsen store in the world. The 5,100-square-foot, two-story store is designed to provide an immersive experience for guests to learn about the luxury audio brand’s speakers and televisions.

Experiential home-inspired listening zones located throughout the space feature fully integrated sound systems, along with modern furniture and artwork that speak to the brand’s 100-year Scandinavian design heritage. At the customization lab, guests can personalize headphones and speakers with laser-engraved monograms, messages or significant dates. The store is also planning to host regular community-focused events, including live performances by local musicians, vinyl listening nights, film screenings and a speaker series. Two more California stores are in the works for 2026 — one in Palo Alto in the Stanford Shopping Center and one in West Hollywood.

Fireclay Tile
San Francisco

While Fireclay Tile has long been a go-to design source for its extensive collection of ceramic, glass and hand-painted tiles, the brand just launched a new Fireclay Bath collection. Fireclay Bath features four different collections of bathroom fixtures, each available in 16 different metal finishes that range from standard like polished brass and satin chrome to specialized such as blackened nickel and architectural copper. Each collection is meant to be mixed and matched, and metal faucets can also be swapped out for unique ceramic fixtures available in 16 different color glazes, enabling creative customization.

The new line is showcased in Fireclay Tile’s San Francisco showroom, which is fresh off a remodel. The company redesigned the merchandising and pattern walls to better showcase the tile collections, updated flooring throughout, reimagined the entryway and enhanced the overall flow of the showroom to make exploring the showroom even easier for homeowners and design pros.

The San Francisco Ferry Building welcomed a new restaurant this fall: Arquet. Led by chef Alex Hong and director of operations Joel Wilkerson, the acclaimed team behind Michelin-starred Sorrel, Arquet serves up sharable plates crafted from sustainable, Northern California-sourced ingredients in a casual-chic space that was once home to beloved restaurant The Slanted Door. Menu highlights range from lighter fare like delicata squash and king trumpet mushroom fritto and a chicory salad to seafood specialties such as West Coast oysters and heartier dishes like BBQ duck with kimchi and Asian pear. Desserts include the refreshing a frozen Meyer lemon ice with shiso, playfully served in a lemon “shell” over ice.

Berkeley-based architecture firm Studio KDA is behind the restaurant’s serene, light-filled interior design, which blends Oaxacan craftsmanship, Japanese restraint and Nordic minimalism with a distinctly California-centric sensibility. At the heart of the 8,500-square-foot restaurant is the open kitchen, while floor-to-ceiling glass frames views of the bay and Bay Bridge. Echoing restaurant’s name — Arquet, a reference to the word “arch” — curved architectural plaster openings, rounded banquettes and arched wall niches feature prominently throughout the spaces. A restrained palette of blond wood and creamy, warm textiles keeps the focus on the food and the view.

There’s a chic new hotel on the Healdsburg hospitality scene: Michelin-starred chef Charlie Palmer and hospitality executive Christopher Hunsberger have teamed up to launch the culinary-forward Appellation hotels brand, with the flagship location recently opened this fall in Healdsburg. Designed by architect John Hill and EDG Design in two distinct “neighborhoods” connected by winding paths through mature native trees, culinary gardens and open-air gathering spaces, Appellation Healdsburg is situated on an 8½-acre property at the edge of town.

The resort’s 108 agrarian-inspired rooms range from spacious queen and king guestrooms to luxurious two-bedroom suites — all boasting floor-to-ceiling doors that open to balconies and patios overlooking vineyards or the property’s two swimming pools. Guests are pampered with amenities including include 300-thread count Matouk bed linens, locally roasted organic Wolf coffee, small-batch teas and a complimentary bottle of Sonoma County wine.

There are two signature Charlie Palmer eateries onsite, both of which draw on locally sourced provisions and produce from the property’s culinary garden: Folia Bar & Kitchen specializes in modern American fare like grilled chili pepper rock fish prepared using live oak embers, while Andys Beeline Rooftop is the place to go for sunset views, sharable coastal-inspired small plates and craft cocktails. Guests can also unwind at the property’s spa, which offers tailored wellness treatments using bespoke products including InLight balms from England and Saya organic skincare from Australia, as well as Eminence Organics products. Rounding out the offerings at Appellation Healdsburg are private event spaces for small and large gatherings and the Crafted at Appellation program, a series of hands-on workshops led by local makers, farmers and artisans.
