Nestled at the base of Mount Disney in the Sugar B Nestled at the base of Mount Disney in the Sugar Bowl resort, a 1970s ski house seemed like an ideal base camp for a pair of art collectors and skiers from San Francisco and their two kids — except that it hadn’t been updated in decades. Besides the dated linoleum floors and shag carpeting, the lower floor of the three-story, 3,400-square-foot house had been separated to serve as a rental. The dark, disjointed stairway concealed behind a massive stone fireplace and chopped-up rooms made for awkward navigation, and access to the deck outside was limited to a small door. Still, the family could envision the possibilities.

A year after the family purchased the home, the renovation got underway, guided by San Francisco-based Obata Noblin Office (ONO), founded by architects Tyler Noblin and Max Obata. “The biggest move we made was to rework the stairway,” Noblin says. “It became a central unifying element across the house.” Besides making it easier to travel between floors, the stairway is also now flooded with natural light from new windows. “With this new connection to the outdoors, it’s become a space not only to move through, but one that is also enjoyable to linger in,” he adds.

In a region dominated by white farmhouses, a custo In a region dominated by white farmhouses, a custom home on Sonoma’s historic east side paves the way for a new architectural path. Its natural modernism stands apart, yet its soul remains pure wine country: earthy, honest and thoughtfully built with sustainability in mind.

The home is the work of Ridge Design and Build, a family-owned firm led by siblings Allegra Diggins and Aaron Tudisco, and Tudisco’s wife, Sena Tudisco. The team handled nearly every aspect of the project, from the architecture and construction to the interior design and landscaping.

Standing inside Austin Carrier and Alex Mutter-Rot Standing inside Austin Carrier and Alex Mutter-Rottmayer’s warm, inviting 1,200-square-foot Sonoma home, it’s hard to imagine its former life as a derelict, 1970s-era car barn with two dingy upstairs apartments. When the Conners first stepped into this 1925 Span When the Conners first stepped into this 1925 Spanish revival home in San Francisco’s Sea Cliff neighborhood, they were hit with an strong sense of familiarity. 72 hours later, they made an offer.

While the outside of the home held undeniable charm with a red tile roof, arched windows and a loft location overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, the inside told a less romantic story.

That didn’t stop the Connors from falling in love.

After more than 60 years with the same family, the house was in serious need of care—and the Conners were ready to give it new life.

See how this Sea Cliff home was transformed. Link in bio.
